Indoor Track Athletes Took Home the ECC Win

On February 1st, the boys and girls’ indoor track team took home the ECC Division II title. This is the 4th year in a row that the boys’ team has taken home the win. The girls would’ve had a 3 peat but unfortunately were disqualified last year and lost to Montville.

Out of all 15 events, the boys had at least one place for 14 of the events. The boys finished with 134, beating Waterford by 36 points. The girls finished with 86, beating Plainfield by 14 points.

Rhys Hammond ended with winning the 1000 and 1600 meter races. He also broke a record in the 1000 (2:32.84) set by an athlete from NFA in 1997 (2:33.40).

For the 300 meter run, Hammer Castagliuolo placed 4th. For the 600 meter run, Chase Flynn placed 1st and Ben French placed 4th. For the 1000 meter run, Rhys Hammond placed 1st. For the 1600 meter run Hammond placed 1st, Ryan Gruczka came in 2nd and Elias Dahl came in 5th. For the 3200 Gruczka came in 1st, Dahl came in 5th, and John Cannella came in 6th. For the 55 meter dash, Christian Hudson came in 3rd, Joshua Mooney came in 4th, Cam Rose came in 5th and Phoenix Glaza came in 6th. The boys won the 4×400 relay including George Limberakis, Hammer, Flynn, and Hammond. For the high jump Glaza came in 5th and Charles Padlan came in 6th. For pole vault, Bobby Lewis came in 2nd and Limberakis came in 4th. For long jump, Padlan came in 4th, Glaza came in 5th, and James Furtado came in 6th. For shot put Hudson came in 4th. That concludes all of the boys’ results.
