Stonington Boys Basketball to have a new look this season

Story by Austin Rewick, Staff Writer

Stonington High School’s basketball team and coaching staff looks different this year after a promising season last year. The Bears last year had a 19-7 record and a berth in the Division IV state quarterfinals, eventually losing to St. Josephs at home. The Bears will be having a new coach this year, ex-assistant coach Jay Wosencroft. He has been the assistant for 5 years prior.

Senior Tyler Fidrych and Ayden Morrison are expected to rejoin the team this season. Junior Anthony Fry is also rejoining the team after missing the previous season with a devastating knee injury that required surgery. Senior Zach Scott is also expected to start with what he left off with last season. Scott led the team in scoring last season with 16.7 ppg. Scott currently has 999 career points with the Bears, making him one off of Stonington’s 1,000 point club.

Tryouts for Stonington are:

Thursday 12/5: 4:00PM-6:30PM

Friday 12/6: 4:00PM-6:30PM

Saturday 12/7: 8:00AM-10:00AM
