SHS Boy’s Soccer Advance to State Semifinals

After completing the ECC tournaments, both the girls and boys varsity soccer teams headed into States. When playing at the state level, there are 5 games in total. First, there are two qualifying rounds, then quarterfinals, semifinals, and then Finals.

The girl’s varsity team completed their first round against Academy of Science and Innovation with a score of 5-0, goals by Megan Detwiler, Holly Foster, Alex Jefson, Emma Sabbadini, and two goals scored by Kaleigh Bolduc. Sadly the girls lost 3-0 in round two against Notre Dame Catholic.

The boy’s varsity team is still on their journey through states. They won their first round against New Fairfield with a score of 5-0, goals by Max Wojtas, Will Cannella, Jamison Magowan, Graham Johnstone, and Jake O’Keefe. In the second round, the boys swept the field again with a score of 6-0 against Rockville, goals by RJ Parrilla, Graham Johnstone, Sam Montalto, Cooper Wall, and two by Tyler Fidrych. They played in the quarterfinals game on Saturday, October 10, against Tolland and won with a score of 2-0. Both goals were scored by Jamison Magowan.

The boys are now on their way to the Semifinals tomorrow in Middletown at 6:30 PM.
