Stonington Crew Takes on the Head of the Fish Regatta

On Sunday, October 28, the Stonington Crew Team went up to Saratoga Springs, New York to compete in the Head of the Fish Regatta. This event was hosted by the Saratoga Rowing Association. One hundred and fifty-three teams were entered in this event, some representing colleges and others representing high schools.

In the regatta, there were seven SHS crew boats competing. The girl’s team had their V1 eight-person boat, their V2 eight-person boat, and their V1 four-person boat. The boy’s team had their V1 eight-person boat, V2 eight-person boat, V3 eight-person boat, and their V1 four-person boat.

The girls V1 eight-person team came in 35th place in their division out of 36 teams They had a time of 14:16.41. The girls V2 came in 20th in their division out of 25 teams. They had a time of 15:10.06. Their V1 four-person team came in 22nd in their division out of 30 teams. They had a time of 15:40.59

The boys V1 eight-person team came in 16th place in their division out of 32 teams. They had a time of 11:47.98. The boys V2 team came in 16th place in their division out of 24 teams They had a time of 13:13.88. Their V3 team came in 9th place in their division out of 11 teams. They had a time was 14:27.48. The boys V1 four-person team came in 18th in their division out of 36 teams. They had a time of 13:13.14.

Zach Pasquin is a junior on the crew team. He is currently in the V2 boat. When asked about how the regatta was for the team, he said, “It was fun. The team worked very hard. Even though the weather wasn’t great, we made the best of it.”

This was the last regatta of the fall crew season. They start winter training in a few weeks.
