On November 22, “Frozen 2″ premiered in theaters as a sequel to “Frozen” which came premiered in November of 2013.

Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, the film starred the main characters from the first movie: Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf, voiced by Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad, as well as several new characters. New actors in the cast include Evan Rachel Wood, Sterling K. Brown, Alfred Molina, and more.

“Frozen 2” advances the storyline from the first movie, focusing on Elsa and the story of her powers in relation to her mother. The main characters travel to an enchanted forest in a dangerous yet transformative journey. Similar to the first film, “Frozen 2″ has a soundtrack filled with songs the audience can sing along with even after watching the film.

This film grossed $127 million in domestic ticket sales in its opening weekend, which is 75 percent more than the first film made in its first weekend. Although the sequel may have outdone its predecessor in sales, it reigns true that the sequel is usually not as good as the original. The storyline was entertaining but did not have the magical feel of the first film which is hard to live up to. On the other hand, it was interesting to see the backstory of Elsa’s powers that were the main focus of the first movie.

The film can be enjoyed by the whole family, especially because of Josh Gad’s fan-favorite role as Olaf the snowman. There are many laughs and heartwarming moments, making it a must-see movie during this holiday season.
