The third annual Westerly Downtown Shutdown, held on Thursday, September 26th 2019 from 5 to 10 PM, was interrupted by strong winds and sheets of rain.

Despite the inclement weather, several performers stayed to play music and entertain the chilly passersby, including Stonington High School’s Saxophone Ensemble and country duo Shawn Allen and Ray Carroll. However, many activities like chalk art and painting had to be forgoed because of the rainfall.

Pedestrians occupied themselves by window-shopping, stopping at the booths of local businesses, and eating at the food trucks that served a variety of snacks and meals. Bridal store Melissa Ashley even featured live models in their display window.
